A Message from Mayor Justin Addington:
The effects of Hurricane Helene on our Town and neighbors was unprecedented, and of historical proportions. Our people have suffered loss on a grand scale, aside from loss of basic conveniences. Our prayers are with our residents, first responders, and emergency volunteers in Weber City and surrounding Southwest Virginia areas that have been hit hard, as well as those in Tennessee and the Carolina mountains. So many are in need from here to Florida and in between. We know that your hearts are broken for them too.
Town Hall is open to receive any donations to help our friends and neighbors, beginning with local folks and working our way to outlying areas in need. We have volunteers that have stepped up to deliver donated items to these areas.
If you are a Town of Weber City resident and are in need of basic necessities, please contact Town Hall at (276)386-7201 so that we can arrange to fill those needs as donations arrive.
If you know of organizations that need assistance, or are offering assistance, please send an email to clerk@webercityva.org, or drop a link in the comments.
Our community has always gone above and beyond to help their neighbors, to comfort those who are hurting, and supply basic needs. May God bless us and keep us all safe until everyone, and everything is restored.
A list of ideas of items needed most:
Baby supplies (diapers, formula, wipes, bottles, etc.)
Water - gallons and bottled
Hygiene products (all kinds - men, women, and children - including dental hygiene items and feminine hygiene products)
Non-perishable food (even some that does not require cooking)
Medical supplies (UNOPENED AND SEALED - Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Band-aids, gauze, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, antibiotic cream, etc.)
Additional items to consider that are great ideas:
Flashlights Batteries
Trash Bags Wet Wipes
Blankets Gloves (medical and work style)
Candles Cleaning Supplies
Bleach Charcoal, matches, or lighters for grills
New, unopened, small toys that can comfort children
The list is endless. As a rule of thumb, if you need it for basic day-to-day use, then our neighbors could benefit from having it brought to them as well.
Thank you for caring for others,
Mayor Justin Addington, Town of Weber City Town Council and Town Staff
